Emerging Adulthood (18 - 25 years)
This stage is all about her stepping into independence and figuring out what kind of life she wants to build. It’s a time of exploration and making big decisions about careers, education, relationships, and where (or how) she wants to live. It often involves redefining or questioning the values she grew up with, as she shapes her own identity more fully. She is navigating dating, intimacy, and evolving relationships, while also juggling responsibilities like school, work, and finances. Leaving home and becoming financially independent can be exciting but also overwhelming. In therapy, the focus is usually on supporting confidence, emotional regulation, and healthy decision-making. It’s about helping her trust herself as she carves out her own path.

This stage for her is often a whirlwind of building and balancing where careers get momentum, relationships deepen, and sometimes starting families. There is often a strong drive to ‘get things right’ which can create a lot of internal or external pressure, think work-life juggle, navigating fertility (if that’s part of the plan), or dealing with shifting friendships as everyone’s priorities evolve. It’s easy to feel pulled in all directions, and sometimes identity gets blurred in the mix of parenting, partnership, and career ambition. Therapy at this stage is all about helping women hold onto themselves while they show up for other, strengthening boundaries, nurturing self-care, stress management and emotional well-being.
